BAADER 189 with the Opti-trim kit
PRG chose a BAADER 189 with an Opti-trim kit when they needed an additional filleting machine for their production. The reason for their decision was the excellent ratio between price, reliability and yield output from the machine.

PRG was looking for a new filleting machine for their production. After a while, they had narrowed the choices down to three solutions. The first choice was a brand new model that probably is the most advanced and developed filleting machine for whitefish on the market. The second option was a cheaper filleting machine based on the original design of the BAADER 189. The third choice was a renovated BAADER 189 with an Opti-trim kit installed.
Investing in new equipment can be a troublesome task. The whitefish industry is very competitive, and the difference between make or break is diminutive. Therefore, investments must be carefully considered and all aspects examined before you can make a decision. Luckily, Tórolvur, chief engineer at PRG, got an invitation to see the most advanced new model on the market installed at a fish factory. When Tórolvur arrived at the plant, he discovered on the premises the three machines that PRG was considering buying. Seeing a direct comparison between the machines was an eye-opener to Tórolvur.

PRG ordered a BAADER 189 with the Opti-Trim kit from Petur Larsen. A technician installed the machine and trimmed it to fulfillment so that it would be ready for a final test. Since PRG had an already-serviced BAADER 189, this presented the ideal opportunity to do a head-to-head comparison of BAADER 189s with and without Opti-Trim installed.

Running the comparison test clearly showed the advantage of the Opti-Trim kit. The fillets on the machine with Opti-Trim had better-looking fillets, and on average, Opti-Trim provided a 1.4% added yield for the BAADER 189 with Opti-Trim installed. PRG had gotten a machine that fit the company’s budget and delivered a fulfilling outcome. Jákup Poulsen, who is responsible for keeping a yield output, is pleased with the Opti-Trim kit.
